A buddhist pilgrimage in               japanese island Shikoku

F

For the second time my wife and me undertook a Shingon pilgrimage (Ohenro) on foot in Shikoku: 1100 km in the mountains and the streets.

We were dressed like real pilgrims, and welcomed by the people. The founder of the pilgrimage is the monk Kûkai (Kobo Daishi) which lived from A.D.774-835.

The first time we went to Shikoku was in the cherry blossom season, and the second time in autumn with the fascinating colors of the maple leaves.

We show you some pictures of the fantastic landscape, and we hope you enjoy them.

 Happy viewing
